Guesswork: The Next Heavy Infantry

There are currently a couple new discussions on the forum now mulling over our possible future new TAG or pheroware hacker.  We have seen Corahtar L1, Pheroware, and the native Pheroware skill on the Kaauri, but as of yet, we have not seen Corahtar L2 to give us the whole package.  Now, I am as curious as the next artichoke to see what our new “phacker” will be, but it occurred to me tonight that the next platform to receive it might coincide with the allusions of new Heavy Infantry from the Ectros fluff.

The Ectros fluff has this excerpt:  “The Regiment is the oldest Heavy Infantry unit still active in the Tohaa Trident, acting as the structural axis of the Infantry corps and the core of the heavy assault forces.”. Now, if there is anything substantial to take from that, I would think it means that there are other Heavy Infantry units, but they do not act as our central heavy assault forces.  This isn’t to say that other heavy assault Heavy Infantry won’t exist–as that’s not what the text says–but let’s chalk off HMGs, Rockets, Missiles, and Viral Combi Rifles.
sep.gifIf I were drafting a new unit to use Corahtar L2 phacker, I expect I would weigh the unit with some skills that it did not need for that role.  I would do this because I expect that Corvus Belli learned their lesson from the Ghazi Muttawi’ah.  Zone of Control weapons which can attack any type of target are extremely powerful tools, and unless Corvus Belli wants to break the game, there will be no spammable Corahtar L2 units..
sep.gifCombine this with the final point that in other factions, high-quality units often receive an expensive Hacker profile as a dedicated super-specialist.  Presuming that Corahtar still doesn’t count as an ITS specialist, here we go:

Regular, Not Impetuous, Cube • Heavy Infantry
Active Symbiont
MOV4-4  CC16  BS13  PH13  WIP13  ARM3  BTS9  W2  S2  AVA1
Equipment:  Symbiont Armor • Multiespectral Visor L1
Special Skills:  Bioimmunity • I-khol L1 • Regeneration

Inactive Symbiont
MOV4-4  CC16  BS12  PH11  WIP13  ARM0  BTS0  W1  S2  AVA1
Equipment:  Symbiont Armor • Multiespectral Visor L1
Special Skills: Regeneration

SIROS (Fireteam: Triad, Sensor) Breaker Combi Rifle, Stun Grenades / 2 Viral Pistols, Knife. (0 | 51)
SIROS (Fireteam: Triad, Corahtar L2, Specialist Operative) Breaker Combi Rifle, Stun Grenades / 2 Viral Pistols, Knife. (1 | 59)
SIROS (Fireteam: Triad) Spitfire / 2 Breaker Pistols, Knife. (2 | 50)
SIROS Paramedic (
Fireteam: Triad, Biometric Visor L2) Breaker Combi Rifle / 2 Viral Pistols, Knife. (0 | 51)
(CH: Camouflage) Breaker Combi Rifle, Stun Grenades, Nanopulser / 2 Viral Pistols, Knife. (1 | 57)
(CH: Camouflage) Red Fury, Nanopulser / 2 Breaker Pistols, Knife. (2 | 57)

The costing on the “Siros” should be accurate within 1-2 points.  For the Corahtar skill, I presumed a cost of 1 SWC and 8 points.  The Corahtar skill may well cost as low as 5 or as much as 10 points.  We will see.
sep.gifThe Camouflage Siros exists separately from the Triad Siros due arbitrarily to the prohibition of Camo marker-state troops activating in fireteams.  But the Camo Siros also exists separately because I desire the existence of a Tohaa “superunit”.  Now, personally, I do not want a thunder-stealer like Swiss Guard or Anathematic.  However, one of the styles that Tohaa cannot play well is the classic “vanilla” list―a few power models with a handful of cheerleaders―and so an expensive centerpiece unit like the “Siros” with camouflage would be a welcome shakeup to Tohaa lists.
sep.gifAs for the model, I imagine our new Siros Heavy Infantry here to have a slinking and feminine form, to juxtapose the masculine Ectros, as the old Tohaa concept art:

In any event, we are well-advised to not demand a fast, cheap Corahtar L2 Symbiont trooper.  The existence of such a unit could severely throw off the pace and balance of Infinity play.  Sticking Corahtar Discipline L2 on a vulnerable, slow, or expensive platform seems like the wisest implementation.

New heavies, in any case, please.
